Demi Lovato‘s newest album Holy Fvck appears like a rebirth for the pop star — and for good cause. Talking with CBS Mornings, the Disney Channel alum revealed that making the LP put her extra consistent with the emo music she cherished as a teen.

“I grew up listening to this music and so I needed to return to my roots,” she mentioned of the style in an interview throughout the section, aired on Wednesday (April 12). “Whether or not you’re going by means of melancholy of getting enjoyable with your folks, there’s so many feelings on this music. I believe this era is hungry for it.”

Lovato continued, “Whether or not its angst, whether or not it’s falling in love, unhappiness…I’ve all the time simply made music to be an inspiration to different individuals whereas additionally doing what I like. Launched on Aug. 19, Holy Fvck debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200. Elsewhere, the album topped the Prime Rock, Prime Different and Prime Rock & Different Albums charts.
