Earth, Wind & Fireplace drummer Fred White has died aged 67.

The information was shared on Sunday (January 1) by his brother and bandmate Verdine White in an Instagram submit.

White wrote: “Dearest Household Associates and Followers….. Our household is saddened at the moment with the lack of an incredible and proficient member of the family, our beloved brother Frederick Eugene ‘Freddie’ White.

“He joins our brothers Maurice, Monte and Ronald in heaven and is now drumming with the angels! Little one protégé, member of the EWF ORIGINAL 9, with gold data on the younger age of 16 years previous! He was brother quantity 4 within the household lineup.

“However greater than that at residence and past he was the fantastic bro that was at all times entertaining and delightfully mischievous! And we may at all times depend on him to make a seemingly dangerous scenario extra gentle hearted!”

Verdine added: “He’ll stay in our hearts endlessly, relaxation in energy beloved Freddie!! We thanks all to your love, blessings and assist right now. Soar excessive child bro, we love you to the shining [stars] and again!”

Fred White – born Frederick Eugene Adams in Chicago in 1955 – met Donny Hathaway aged 15 and commenced touring with him earlier than becoming a member of The Salty Peppers, a model of the group that will turn into Earth, Wind & Fireplace.

In 1974 he joined Verdine and their brother Maurice in Earth, Wind & Fireplace, occurring to play on their largest hits together with ‘September’ and ‘Shining Star’.

Alongside his work within the band, he continued to drum for a number of artists together with The Feelings and Ramsey Lewis.

Amongst these to pay tribute to White is Lenny Kravitz, who wrote below Verdine’s submit: “Sending my love and deepest condolences to you and the household. I used to be blessed to have been in his presence and blessed to have been influenced by him. A real king. Relaxation in energy.”
