Alvvays launched their Polaris-nominated third album ‘Blue Rev’ late final 12 months. In a four-star assessment, NME stated: “‘Blue Rev’ is 14 songs of what Alvvays achieve this very properly: layers of jangly guitars hit all the suitable notes and are backed up by the band’s metronomic rhythm part, that includes new members – drummer Sheridan Riley and bassist Abbey Blackwell – for this album. ‘After The Earthquake’ is a tasty, melodic indie-pop gem, with one other spotlight, ‘Pomeranian Spinster’, a scuzzy punk gem.
“The writing and recording of ‘Blue Rev’ was disrupted and delayed when Rankin’s demos had been burgled from her home and the band’s gear almost flooded inside two days, however – as has grow to be the norm with this band – endurance proved a advantage and ‘Blue Rev’ stands as an ode to persevering with to evolve regardless of obstacles, slowly honing and tweaking your craft, and retaining on transferring. It’s one other complete delight from the Canadians.”
