I instructed him I used to be impressed to create a brand new album and I used to be creating with all varieties of totally different musicians and producers and in that artistic spur, I had plenty of issues that I used to be recording with Lana, and I recorded plenty of issues with Lana that nobody has even heard but. However two of these issues ended up on her final album [2023’s ‘Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd’] and ‘Life Lesson’ on my album is just like the palate cleanser after the credit roll within the film. It’s a religious relative of the album periods.”

I used to be making an attempt to dissect his album, ‘Soiled Thoughts’. I made a number of songs impressed by that album and his method to [making music], his personal Prince type. The following yr, I get the decision. Prince had heard our band enjoying in a membership: he’d been on the present the entire time – I didn’t know he was even within the viewers! He mentioned he wished to take the band to do a collaboration on one in every of his excursions and we ended up doing that. The primary time I ever carried out in a stadium aged 19 was with Prince and seeing how he curated his present, how he introduced his music and simply being round that was actually inspiring.”
