Sam Smith has just about seen and executed all of it. With a fourth studio album arriving later this month, the singer and songwriter already boasts 4 Grammys, three BRITs, an Oscar and a Golden Globe, No. 1s across the globe and a James Bond theme.

Although Smith nonetheless feels star struck when a pop diva walks into the room.

“If I see Rihanna or Madonna, I fall to the ground,” Smith tells Jimmy Fallon, throughout an interview that aired Thursday night time (Jan. 19).

Add Girl Gaga to that starry record. Smith recounts the story of once they skipped college to look at Gaga’s Monster Ball Tour. They cast a letter from dad, and landed detention for, perhaps, every week. Did the punishment match the crime? Doesn’t matter. “It was so price it,” Smith says.

Smith’s life has moved on from enjoying hooky. Final month, they had been invited to the White Home for a efficiency and a meet-and-greet following the signing of the historic Respect for Marriage Act into regulation, defending same-sex and interracial marriages throughout the nation.

On the day, Smith carried out “Keep With Me,” and met with prime brass. Kamala Harris “beloved” their purse, “they had been all very candy and sort to me and my crew and everybody.”

As a Brit, Smith by no means dreamed of being in enjoying that specific venue. “It was such a gorgeous day, such a gorgeous step in the proper path for our neighborhood and I used to be simply very honored.”

Smith was, after all, on the Tonight Present sofa to speak about their new album Gloria, due out Jan. 27 by way of Capitol. Its title and title tune, Smith explains, is about “a spirit within me that claims to me, ‘you retain going. You’ve obtained this. Stick with it’. It’s like a fighter spirit inside me.”

A number of songs from it have already dropped, together with the hit “Unholy” with Kim Petras, and “Gimme,” with Koffee and Jessie Reyez. Yet one more tune with an “superb” music video is coming quickly. “I explode into glitter,” Smith quips.

Smith will hit the street this April for the beginning of a serious tour in help of Gloria. Extra dates had been added this week. However first, SNL this weekend – Smith’s first look as musical visitor on the present in eight years. “I’m not as nervous. I used to be s—ing myself the primary time,” they admit. “It’s the fourth time I’ve been there. I’m a bit extra calm.”
