Mary Weiss, the lead singer of the Sixties pop lady group The Shangri-Las, has died. She was 75.

A consultant for Weiss’ document label, Norton Information, confirmed the information of her loss of life to The Hollywood Reporter. No explanation for loss of life has been revealed right now.

“Mary was an icon, a hero, a heroine, to each younger women and men of my era and of all generations,” Miriam Linna, of Norton Information, stated in a press release, obtained by the BBC.

Weiss rose to fame as a young person with the lady group, which was shaped within the Queens borough of New York Metropolis. The band consisted of Mary, her older sister Betty Weiss, and twins Marge and Mary Ann Ganser.

The pop group launched a number of hit songs throughout their time, together with “Chief of the Pack,” “Nice Huge Kiss,” “Keep in mind (Strolling within the Sand)” and “Heaven Solely Is aware of.”
