Usher is firmly in his zone on his long-awaited ninth album, Coming House. The 45-year-old R&B veteran who’s gearing as much as take the stage for the halftime present at Sunday’s (Feb. 11) Tremendous Bowl LVIII dropped the 20-track, guest-packed assortment on Friday morning (Feb. 9) and it’s every thing you’d need from the “Yeah!” singer.

On his first studio album since 2016’s Arduous II Love, Usher serves up all of the low-boil seductive jams you’d anticipate, from the simmering not-together-but-it’s-fine single “Good Good” with Summer time Walker and 21 Savage to the effervescent miss-you-much ballad “Kissing Strangers,” on which he croons, “How we go from strangers kissing to kissing strangers?”

After opening with the finger-snap, Michael Jackson-meets-Afrobeats Burna Boy collab “Coming House,” Usher reveals like to his hometown within the Billy Joel-interpolating, Latto-featuring “A-City Woman,” which flips the Piano Man’s tony East Coast-repping 1983 hit “Uptown Woman” into a unclean south homage to a girl who is aware of tips on how to twerk and skate.

There’s, after all, loads of heartbreak (the brooding “Chilly Blooded” with The-Dream), disco-fueled assured swagger (“Huge”), Eurosynth midtempo exhortations to maintain the social gathering going (“Carry on Dancin’”) and straight-up all-night-long intercourse jams (“Stone Kold Freak”).

The gathering is filled with a parade of visitor vocalists and rappers, from the meditative H.E.R. collab on “Threat It All” from The Shade Purple soundtrack, to the seductive “Damage” with Nigerian rapper/producer Pheelz, on which serial seducer Usher laments that his ex “ruined me for everyone,” at the same time as he boasts that different girls preserve blowing up his cellphone. The album ends with the remix of Usher’s collab with Okay-pop icon Jung Kook from BTS on the latter’s earworm single, “Standing Subsequent to You.”

And, to not fear, Ush has loads of gradual jams for these couple skates (“I Love U,” “Please U,” “Luckiest Man”) on the gathering as effectively. Tremendous Bowl LVIII will happen on Feb. 11 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and air on CBS and stream on Paramount+, Sling TV, Hulu+Stay TV and FuboTV.
