Underneath the coordination of Professor Tom Flaherty, John P. and Magdalena R. Dexter Professor of Music, the thirty first annual Ussachevsky Memorial Competition of Electroacoustic Music runs by the weekend. This 12 months’s pageant options two live shows with music that has been composed for people and electronics.
This 12 months’s festival-opening live performance consists of music by Rachel Beetz, Brett Copeland, Avner Finberg, Bára Gísladóttir, Missy Mazzoli and Jack Van Zandt with performances by Stacey Fraser, soprano; Sarah Thornblade*, violin; Cynthia Fogg*, viola; Rachel Beetz, flute; and Stephen Klein*, euphonium.
