Willow Smith hopes to honour the “lovely lineage” of girls in rock music along with her new album.
The actress/singer dropped her fifth studio album Coping Mechanism late final 12 months, with the report together with singles Possibly It is My Fault and Curious/Livid, and exploring the rock, punk, grunge, and steel genres.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind the album throughout an interview with Self-importance Truthful, Willow acknowledged the ladies who’ve experimented with rock music earlier than her.
“I’d say that each lady of color who has picked up a guitar or picked up the drums or picked up the bass or began to sing or wished to specific herself via this style of music is in an attractive lineage,” she stated. “We have been silenced for a very long time, and that is ending.”
Willow is not the one rockstar in her household – her mom Jada Pinkett Smith fashioned the steel band Depraved Knowledge in 2002.
Elsewhere within the dialog, the 22-year-old cautiously waded into the ‘nepo child’ debate, and insisted that the youngsters of celebrities have their very own struggles too.
