Actress Rashida Jones paid tribute to her late father, music producer Quincy Jones, on Thursday, writing on social media that he was a genius “tradition shifter.”
Quincy Jones died Sunday at age 91. His household mentioned in a press release at a time that it was “an unimaginable loss” and they’d look to “rejoice the nice life that he lived and know there’ll by no means be one other like him.”
On social media Thursday, the daughter of the music legend wrote, “My dad was nocturnal his complete grownup life. He stored ‘jazz hours’ beginning in highschool and by no means regarded again. After I was little, I’d get up in the midst of the evening to seek for him. Undoubtedly, he could be someplace in the home, composing (old-fashioned, with a pen and sheet music). He would by no means ship me again to mattress. He would smile and convey me into his arms whereas he continued to work…there was no safer place on this planet for me.”
The Parks and Rec star went on to say her father “was an enormous. An icon. A tradition shifter. A genius,” including the monikers had been “all correct descriptions of my father however his music (and ALL of his work) was a channel for his love. He WAS love.”

Jones obtained the Movement Image Academy’s Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 1995, the Grammy Legend Award in 1991 and 28 Grammys from an all-time greatest 80 nominations. He was to be offered with an honorary Oscar on the Governors Awards on Nov. 17.
His 60-years-career included Michael Jackson’s best-selling albums Off the Wall, Thriller and Unhealthy and the event of Steven Spielberg’s 1985 adaptation of The Coloration Purple, with a younger Oprah Winfrey.
In her personal tribute, Winfrey referred to the producer as “My beloved Q,” writing that “My life modified perpetually for the higher after assembly him” and that “he walked round along with his coronary heart vast open, and he handled everyone as in the event that they had been crucial individual he’d ever met.
