The Weeknd has settled a copyright infringement case regarding his 2018 monitor ‘Name Out My Title’, it has been reported.
The music featured on his first EP ‘My Pricey Melancholy’ and noticed the star singing over a minimal, melancholy R&B backing.
In 2021, Suniel Fox and Henry Unusual – who make up the electro duo Epikker – filed a lawsuit towards The Weeknd and producers Frank Dukes and Nicolas Jaar, claiming that ‘Name Out My Title’ plagiarised their unreleased music ‘Vibeking’. The pair claimed that his monitor pulled from their vocal hook and lead guitar half.

They added: “Each works are in a 6/8 meter that’s much less widespread in standard music. Each works are performed at an analogous tempo. And each works use options of electronica, atmosphere, pop, hip-hop, rock, and R&B to realize a very atmospheric and melancholic sound.”
Though ‘Vibeking’ was unreleased, the duo claimed to have proof that The Weeknd’s Abel Tesfaye had heard the monitor. They shared an e-mail within the criticism that they alleged confirmed Tesfaye’s “playback engineer” telling them that the star had “listened [to] and favored” the music.
