Right this moment (twenty eighth March) MusicBird is delighted to announce its acquisition of the music catalogue of iconic Scottish songwriter, recording artist and producer Midge Ure. MusicBird has acquired the writers share, grasp recording and neighbouring rights revenue on over 300 songs throughout Midge’s solo profession and his work with Ultravox, Visage and extra.

Midge loved enormous success within the Nineteen Seventies and Eighties in bands together with Slik, Skinny Lizzy, Wealthy Youngsters, Visage and because the lead singer of Ultravox. He produced, co-wrote and carried out on a number of synth-pop and new wave classics corresponding to “Fade to Gray” by Visage, the Ultravox hits “Vienna” and “Dancing with Tears in My Eyes” and his UK No 1 hit “If I Was”, taken from his prime 10 album “The Reward”.

Along with Bob Geldof, Midge co-wrote and produced the Band Assist charity single “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”, which bought over 12 million copies worldwide and ranks because the second-highest promoting single in UK chart historical past (as a charity single this was not a part of the MusicBird acquisition).

Speaking concerning the deal, Midge Ure mentioned: “It’s a important second for me as an artist and songwriter to see my songs discover a new house at MusicBird with people who find themselves genuinely captivated with music. I feel this workforce will take the songs to new audiences and I’m excited to be working with them on that!”
