Alan Rankine has died on the age of 64.
The Scottish musician and report producer was greatest often called the keyboardist and guitarist within the rock band The Associates and his passing was introduced on Tuesday (03.01.23) by his sons Callum and Hamish Rankine.
They mentioned in a press release on Fb: “He died peacefully at residence shortly after spending Christmas along with his household.
“He was a lovely, form and loving man who can be sorely missed.”
Alan’s sons mentioned that his Fb web page could be stored reside and inspired folks to have fun his life and music on it as a result of the “group meant quite a bit to our dad”.
Rankine began his profession within the cabaret band Caspian, which might later develop into The Associates, with the late Billy Mackenzie and the pair recorded three albums collectively throughout the early Nineteen Eighties.
The star left the band in 1982 and went on to ascertain himself as a producer by working with artists together with Paul Haig and The Pale Fountains.
Rankine launched into a solo profession in 1986 and recorded three albums on the impartial Belgian label Les Disques du Crepuscule.
The label paid tribute to the musician and described him as a “author, musician and producer extraordinaire, and in The Associates one half of the best pop band of the Nineteen Eighties”.
Alan later lectured at Stow Faculty in Glasgow the place he helped college students arrange their very own report label, Electrical Honey, which launched the careers of acts similar to Belle and Sebastian, Snow Patrol and Biffy Clyro.
BMX Bandits songwriter and lead vocalist Duglas T Stewart paid tribute to Rankine on social media.
He wrote on Twitter: “Very unhappy information at this time that Alan Rankine has died.
“I first grew to become conscious of Alan by means of The Associates and later obtained to know him a little bit.
“Sending like to his household and all who cherished him.”
