Possibly Ed Sheeran is simply catching up on all of the crummy retail and meals service jobs the remainder of us did in our 20s by cosplaying as customer support throughout stops on his huge Arithmetic tour. Just a few weeks in the past, he was slinging canine at Chicago’s legendarily salty Weiner Circle and on Saturday he popped in to a Lego retailer at Minneapolis’ huge Mall of America for a shift at a “brick specialist.”
In a video on his Instagram, Sheeran posts up behind the counter as a shocked mother says, “are you kidding me!? Oh my God, my daughter’s gonna freak out!” Sheeran then turns to the digital camera to indicate off his official Lego retailer uniform, consisting of a blue Lego shirt, the signature yellow smock and, sure, an “Ed” title tag.
“I’m right here on the Mall of America in Minnesota and I’ve my Lego outfit on to be a brick specialist on the Lego retailer after which play ‘Lego Home!,” AFOL Sheeran tells the digital camera. In a montage, Sheeran helps some younger consumers discover the precise bricks, pushes inventory round on a cart and indicators a Lego home set for a younger fan. Then, after his shift, Sheeran straps on an acoustic and strums the brick-themed third single from his 2011 debut album, +, for tons of of Sheerios.
“That was tremendous enjoyable,” he says after the short meals court-adjacent gig, teasing a shock on the U.S. Financial institution Stadium in Minneapolis later that evening. “I’ve received a bunch of those ‘Autumn Is Coming’ minifigures and I’m going to be giving them out on the gig. See you in a bit,” he says.
At earlier stops on the tour, Sheeran popped right into a pub to sing the Backstreet Boys’ “I Need It That Method,” slung philly cheesesteaks in South Philadelphia and visited a classroom to jam with some highschool band college students in Tampa.
