Word: As Swift’s latest album, Tortured Poets deserves to be the finale. And whereas, upon first pay attention, the document could not seem to be it has sufficient stadium-ready bops to shut out the present, the above songs 100% have the potential to be transformed into the high-energy moments the Eras Tour instructions. Simply think about the theatrical potential of “Who’s Afraid,” the meta-ness of a real-life crowd chanting “Extra!” throughout “Damaged Coronary heart,” and confetti falling from the sky through the remaining refrain of “However Daddy…” We image gothic visuals, writing desks, typewriter props, interval costumes and lightning strikes throughout this part.
Now, about that mashup. It’s absurd that Swift has by no means included any songs from her 2006 self-titled debut album — aka her first-ever period — on the principle Eras Tour setlist. However it’s not too late to rectify that.
Image this: The lights go down after Swift performs “Who’s Afraid of Little Outdated Me?” Costumes change, a tiger cage and different circus-themed set items are wheeled away. Then, the songwriter — her silhouette barely seen beneath the dim glow of an aquamarine highlight — sings a cappella the ultimate refrain of the primary tune about faking smiles within the face of heartbreak she ever launched: “Teardrops on My Guitar.” Emphasis on the lyric, “the one one who’s bought sufficient of me to break my coronary heart.”
After she trails off on the final line — “Drew appears at me, I faux a smile so he gained’t see” — the stadium involves life as soon as extra as the gang’s multi-color light-up bracelets go haywire, an explosion of sound filling the house. “I can learn your thoughts,” Swift jumps in, surrounded by dancers because the lights out of the blue go up, revealing one final fabulous costume. “‘She’s having the time of her life…’”
As soon as that’s achieved, she’ll transfer on to the finale, flipping off the haters, embracing her truest followers and proudly proclaiming her love for the person of her desires in a single fell swoop with “However Daddy I Love Him,” disappearing offstage earlier than concertgoers have even completed singing alongside.
