Roger Waters is addressing widespread backlash he’s acquired after sporting a Nazi-like uniform throughout his current live shows in Berlin.

On Friday (Could 26), the Pink Floyd co-founder shared a press release on social media about his controversial Could 17-18 reveals at Berlin’s Mercedes-Benz Area, which have prompted an investigation by German police.

“My current efficiency in Berlin has attracted unhealthy religion assaults from those that need to smear and silence me as a result of they disagree with my political opinions and ethical ideas,” Waters wrote in his assertion, which was posted on Twitter.

“The weather of my efficiency which were questioned are fairly clearly a press release in opposition to fascism, injustice, and bigotry in all its types. Makes an attempt to painting these parts as one thing else are disingenuous and politically motivated.”

Throughout his Berlin reveals, Waters wore a fancy dress paying homage to a Nazi SS soldier’s uniform — a protracted black coat with a purple armband — whereas pointing a pretend rifle on the crowd. In his assertion, the singer/bassist stated that the “depiction of an unhinged fascist demagogue” has been featured in his previous stay performances because the launch of the 1980 movie The Wall.

Following the live shows, Berlin police opened an investigation of Waters on suspicion of incitement over the Nazi-style uniform. Authorities stated the costume might represent glorification, justification or approval of Nazi rule and subsequently a disturbance of the general public peace, the Related Press reviews.
