Joni Mitchell is to be honoured with the Gershwin Prize for Widespread Tune.
On Thursday, U.S. Librarian of Congress, Carla Hayden, introduced that the Huge Yellow Taxi singer will obtain the prize throughout a live performance to be staged in Washington, D.C. on 1 March.
“Joni Mitchell’s music and artistry have left a definite impression on American tradition and internationally, crossing from people music with a particular voice whose songs will stick with us for the ages,” she mentioned. “Joni Mitchell’s music has so many artists and music lovers all singing her tunes. We’re honoured to current the Gershwin Prize to this musical genius.”
