Eire’s president has led tributes to Mark Sheehan, guitarist with Irish rock band The Script, after his demise on the age of 46.
The band stated Sheehan died in a hospital on Friday after a short sickness. In a press release, The Script known as him a “a lot cherished husband, father, brother, band mate and buddy.”
Shaped in Dublin in 2001 by Sheehan, singer Danny O’Donoghue and drummer Glen Energy, The Script topped U.Ok. and Irish charts with its self-titled debut album in 2008. It included the hits “We Cry,” “Breakeven” and “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved,” which reached No. 1 in 5 international locations.
The band’s pop-inflected rock sound made it considered one of Eire’s greatest bands within the 2010s. The Script went on to have six High 10 albums within the U.Ok. and one high three album within the U.S.
Irish President Michael D. Higgins praised the band’s “originality and excellence” and despatched condolences to Sheehan’s household.
“Via their music, Mark and The Script have performed an impressive half in persevering with and selling this proud custom of Irish musical success the world over,” Higgins stated.
Amongst these paying tribute to Sheehan on social media was Take That, with the group’s official Twitter account posting Saturday, “We’re deeply saddened to listen to the information concerning the passing of our stunning buddy Mark Sheehan. Sending all our love and prayers to his and @thescript household right now. Pondering of you all.”
The musician is survived by his spouse, Rina Sheehan, and their three youngsters.
