Maxi Jazz, a DJ and the lead singer for the digital British band Faithless, has died. He was 65.

Jazz, whose actual title was Maxwell Fraser, died Friday, the band stated in a Fb publish Saturday. In a tweet, his Faithless bandmate Sister Bliss stated Jazz died “peacefully in his sleep.” A reason for demise was not revealed.

“He was a person who modified our lives in so some ways,” learn the Fb publish, which was signed by Bliss and their bandmate, Rollo Armstrong. “He gave correct which means and message to our music. He was additionally a stunning human being with time for everybody and a knowledge that was each profound and accessible. It was an honour and, in fact, a real pleasure to work with him.”

Their assertion went on to name him “a superb lyricist, a DJ, a Buddhist, an impressive stage presence, automobile lover, infinite talker, lovely individual, ethical compass and genius.”

Faithless was recognized for such songs as 1995’s “Insomnia” and 2001’s “We Come 1.” Jazz fronted the group from 1995 till 2011, when it broke up, and once more from 2015-16. He then went on to type his personal group, Maxi Jazz & The E-Sort Boys.

Jazz, who was born June 14, 1957, in London. He acquired his begin as a DJ in British pirate radio and as founding father of The Soul Meals Café System.

He went on to type Faithless with Armstrong, Bliss and Jamie Cotto.
