Metallica Explains Meaning Behind New Song ‘Screaming Suicide’: ‘We Should Be Able to Talk About It’

Metallica is explaining the that means behind its new tune “Screaming Suicide.”

On Friday (Jan. 20), the legendary heavy metallic band unveiled the second single from its upcoming eleventh studio album, 72 Seasons, which is scheduled for launch on April 14 by Blackened Recordings. “Screaming Suicide” addresses the “taboo phrase of suicide,” Metallica frontman James Hetfield writes in a press release.

“The intention is to speak concerning the darkness we really feel inside,” the singer and guitarist says. “It’s ridiculous to suppose we must always deny that we have now these ideas. At one level or one other I consider most individuals have considered it. To face it’s to talk the unstated. If it’s a human expertise, we must always have the ability to discuss it. You aren’t alone.”

The discharge of “Screaming Suicide” was accompanied by black-and-white music video directed by Tim Saccenti. The clip’s YouTube caption hyperlinks to quite a few suicide prevention businesses internationally.

72 Causes is Metallica’s first studio album since Hardwired…to Self-Destruct, which debuted because the band’s sixth No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart in December 2016. The rock group previewed its upcoming album in November with first single “Lux Æterna,” which launched at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Sizzling Arduous Rock Songs chart and topped Mainstream Rock Airplay.

Metallica will launch a world tour in assist of 72 Causes in late April.
