A line of sturdy thunderstorms, with wind gusts of as much as 60 mph (about 97 kph), prompted organizers of the 2023 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Pageant to delay the Saturday (Might 6) opening on the Truthful Grounds by no less than two hours.
In an announcement on Twitter, the pageant instructed festgoers to “keep tuned” for extra data and “See you this afternoon!”
“Attributable to climate circumstances, the opening of at this time’s Jazz Fest will likely be delayed by one to 2 hours. Please keep tuned for extra data. See you this afternoon!” organizers wrote.
The pageant is in its ultimate weekend for its 2023 two-week run.
Saturday’s scheduled performers embody rock band Lifeless & Firm, R&B singer/musician H.E.R, various people band The Lumineers, jazz trumpeter Terence Blanchard, that includes The E Collective and Turtle Island Quartet, blues singer Keb’ Mo and gospel artist Anthony Brown and group therAPy.
New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Pageant’s ultimate day is Sunday.
