The legacy of Nipsey Hussle stays robust, even after his 2019 demise. On Thursday (Feb. 16), on the fifth anniversary of his main label debut album, Victory Lap, Hussle’s Grammy-nominated effort receives a bevy of RIAA notifications, together with a double-platinum plaque for the 2018 undertaking.
Together with Victory Lap going double platinum, the album tracks additionally obtained accolades, notably “Double Up” that includes Stomach and Dom Kennedy. In keeping with the RIAA, “Double Up” is now triple platinum, whereas “Hussle & Inspire” and “Grinding All My Life” stand tall at double platinum. “Victory Lap,” “Dedication” that includes Kendrick Lamar,” “Blue Laces 2,” “Final Time That I Checc’d” with YG and “Rap N—as” all went platinum. “Actual Huge,” “Keyz 2 The Metropolis 2,” “Proper Hand 2 God,” “Younger N—a” and “Standing Image” with Buddy raced their option to gold.
In November, Marathon Movies introduced Nip’s docuseries Hussle, which explored the legacy of the acclaimed rapper. “Crenshaw-Slauson, within the Crenshaw District, effectively that’s the place, actually, the Nip Hussle story,” the rapper’s voice narrates over footage from his lifetime, later including, “Religion is a required aspect in your marathon to success and in your marathon of life. It’s your footprint within the sand, your dent within the universe, the influence on the world round you. I would like ’em to say that he wasn’t afraid to stay. Chasing a dream.”
Springhill — NBA celebrity LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s media firm — are financing the movie.
