The artist and anarchist behind the Intercourse Pistols’ iconic paintings, Jamie Reid, has died at 76.

John Marchant Gallery introduced the unhappy information of his loss of life on Wednesday (09.08.23).

In a touching ode, the gallerist wrote: “We sadly announce the passing of Jamie MacGregor Reid January 16, 1947 – August 8, 2023; artist, iconoclast, anarchist, punk, hippie, insurgent and romantic.

“Jamie leaves behind a beloved daughter, Rowan; a granddaughter, Rose; and an infinite legacy. Common Majesty, Verity, Love, Infinite.”

The punk visible artist – who was greatest recognized for Décollage, the other of a collage – created the ransom-note model newspaper slicing lettering that he famously used on the quilt of the Pistols’ 1977 tune ‘God Save The Queen’, depicting a younger Queen Elizabeth II with the observe’s title slapped throughout the royal’s eyes and mouth.

Born in London in 1947, Reid handed away in Liverpool, the place he had lived for a few years.
