Steve Harwell, the founder and singer of hit late Nineteen Nineties and early 2000s band Smash Mouth, has died. He was 56.
A rep for Harwell tells The Hollywood Reporter the musician handed away peacefully and comfortably in his house in Boise, Idaho, on Monday, surrounded by his family and friends. Information broke on Sunday that the artist was in hospice care as a result of liver failure.
“Steve’s legacy will reside on by means of the music,” the rep says. “Steve’s iconic voice is likely one of the most recognizable voices from his technology. He beloved the followers and beloved to carry out.”
Because the lead singer of Smash Mouth, the band bought over 10 million albums worldwide and had a number of hit songs, together with “All Star” and their cowl of The Monkee’s “I’m a Believer,” each of which have been made much more widespread by their use within the Shrek franchise.

Harwell is survived by his fiancé, Annette; sisters Carla, Michelle and Julie; and his brother, Mark.
