The “musical affect award” sees DJ Kool Herc – the Bronx-based DJ whose breakbeat-focused turntable methods are extensively cited because the clearest place to begin of hip-hop music – enters the Rock Corridor; presumably, it’s not a coincidence his induction aligns with the 12 months the music trade is celebrating because the fiftieth anniversary of hip-hop as a style.
